There are so-called regenerative sources of energy which can be used to produce electricity etc. which are at least as natural as oil or fissionables.

Current governments and economies prefer to use up the dwindling non-regenerative sources of energy. The technology to avoid non-regenerative sources exists, but the lobby of oil producers has a firm grip on governments and car industry.

Regenerative sources of energy coupled with reduced per capita use of energy will guarantee a lifestyle not too different from current European standards. Whether the wasteful use of subventioned oil in the USA can be replaced by regenerative sources is less certain, but western civilization can survive without fossile fuels.

There will always be Energy as long as there are human beings.

Don't forget about Solar power, the very thing that keeps satalites and space stations flowing with energy.

Wind Turbines, and WindMills

Hydro-Electric Dams

and if that runs out there is always the methode of developping power that Tesla Developped. Google the Name Tesla and something called the Tesla Coil.

Don't worry... when humanity is ready for it, a free, renewable source of energy is waiting for us. Lets just hope that we become ready sooner than 4.5 billion years... cause that's when our Sun goes kablooie and destroys everything up to the asteroid belt after mars.

I don't know about you... but my bet is on the sun.

Out there it's said that there's a cure for cancer but it's not advisable for the lab industry to let this know, they said there's already a car that don't needs oil to work but this is not good for the huge oil industry, there's people that don't use a TV they rather prefer their laptops which have everything they need so....when the raw materials and natural sources are used up there will be for sure LARGE COMPANIES with back-up plans to continue amasing their fortunes...so don't worry, just relax and enjoy the trip of life.....:)

Hopefully the human race will have invented new ways of producing energy. Nuclear, solar, and many others are only in the primary stage of their existence. Who knows what wonders the human race will come up with in a Universe with no limitations.

I'm planning on hitching a ride on the next shuttle launch out of NASA. That way I won't have to worry about natural disasters or human made disasters such as that ... whenever the time comes.

Other technologies will replace petroleum. Technological regression is nearly impossible as long as 999/1000ths of the human race doesn't get eliminated.
