Queen would not have happened without the Beatles. Most rock would not have happened without the Beatles, but Queen in particular was very influenced by them. The Beatles were very experimental, brought operatic elements, and used a lot of harmony in their vocals... all things that Queen inherited and played with.
So, to answer the question, the Beatles.

Luv the Beatles, but Queen is what I pick. Exceptional,deep thinking lyrics, and music filled with guitar riffs, piano and percussion., and Freddie had great showmanship. He strutted around on stage,[ He wore sequins one time, a Superman shirt another] the Beatles stood still.Compare "Bohemian Rhapsody" or "Somebody to Love" with "I Wanna Hold your Hand.'" You can't. Two different kinds of rock. Pablum compared to caviar.
And Queen was gutsy. Filling a stadium full of naked bicycle riding women?

Queen man. Musically and experimentally, they were awesome. Beatles had their hits, and their music is catchy, but musically talking, Queen blows the Beatles away by light years.

Freddie Mercury was a brilliant songwriter, "Bohemian Rhapsody" was a ballsy and innovative recording, and the "Highlander" soundtrack rocks!
Besides, how can the Beatles and their crappy haircuts be superior to Freddie's hat with the little horns on it (from the video for "Another One Bites the Dust")?

I discovered Beatles later and didn't catch my attention from first time
