From my experience and observation of gay teens and men, why are they so stuck up, and snotty? Most act as if they deserve more respect than non-gays, that their opinions are more valid than non-gays, and that they can do anything better than a straight man or woman. Why?

And I am not discriminating against gay people, I have had gay co-workers and classmates and have no problem with them at all, OTHER than I am puzzled by this behavior.

Whoa. Some of you are saying stuff like because "we are twice as good and better looking." That is exactly the kind of B.S. I am coming to expect.

It's called bravura (or front, as in "front it out") and it's an overcompensation for the fact that they are so set upon by society.

" You try to put me down - but I'm better than that!"

As we grow older, more used to our environment and inured to peoples attitudes, so this lessens - or at least it did with me.

Regards

I think it does bother you. However Maybe you're interpreting wrong.

My very best friend is gay. He is male and I am female-I would not trade him for anyone in the world. He does not act like he can do anything better than a straight man or woman, however I can tell you this, he CAN do anything better than any straight man or woman I know. He could build me a house, make my wedding dress, make my wedding cake, make my curtains, clothes, take me shopping and make me hot, he could do my hair and make up, he could fix my truck, build anything from the ground up, manage any type of business, sell you anything, repeat half of the Bible without looking, keep himself cleaner and more organized than any straight person I know. And he has a heart of gold-He does everything for everyone all the time and never asks for anything in return.

He is like my best girlfriend, yet no one knows he is gay. He can adapt himself to any environment. Some have a lot more class than the average straight person.

Maybe you should pay a little more attention to what you are observing, you may even learn something.

I'm gay, and I don't have that superiority complex. I just hate people. I'm a negative, vandictive and hateful individual and in no way do I appreciate the existance of the human race, including myself.

Since you know some gays that act all high and mighty, just understand, there is always some freak out there that looks, acts, and talks straight as can be and you'd never know these people are queer unless they told you. I'm one of these people, very easy to blend in by just being myself aside from not hitting on certain people, like those I work with.

Now I've seen the gay types you're talking about, I prefer to call these people the "Flamboyant" types as it's usually the flamy one's that get the whole "Better than thou" expressions. Why this is, it's beyond me. Personally I'd rather see tons of bloodshed, starvation, crying and lots and lots of people being executed, buildings burned with tons of explosions everywhere. Not just on the fourth of July ;) but like huuuuge explosions blowing buildings up and sending bridges back to wence they came.

So unfortunately, even though I know what you're talking about, it's not all of us. Some of us are actually the extreme opposite. Heck, I'd make an excellent evil dictator or evil super villian.

well i think that ppl are all different , some are nice cool ones and others find themselves better than the rest of the world!! I have some gay friends and i must say they rae absolutely different from each other ; one of them is really great and a wonderful person, he's someone we can really get along with easily...however the other one ....well he thinks he's the best in the world, very arrogant and rude sometimes .... so don't worry it's not because someone is gay or lesbian but it's the personality ...

Think about it for a moment and I hate using animals as an analogy for human behavior but here goes.

When an animal is threatened as Gays are in almost every situation when among only straights. Said animal will bluff. He will puff himself up to make himself look bigger stronger more intimidating.

This is also similar to the preening he will do to attract a mate.

So you are seeing a guy who is on the make or he is feeling threatened. The way to deflect this is to let him know you are not interested in him or a threat to him.

Probably its a defense mechanism. When you are assaulted and hurt emotionally and sometimes physically you develop defense mechanisms. One is to put yourself aloof from the fray, above it as it were, and try to find your self-worth to be greater than those who mistreat you routinely Another is to give in and become exactly what your detractors say you are.

It sounds to me like you are saying that gays you know took the former and not latter route.

Better for them than breaking under the weight, even if it is a pain in your butt. Hopefully over the next few generations, the prejudice will stop, and that behavior will stop too.

have you been observing them from tv the most or from the ones around you the most? i don't know what kind of pompous disgraces you have met, but not all gays are like that. i'm gay, and i don't think i'm any better than somebody just because they're straight. just tell them to get off their high horses and get real. damn it, Gandhi was straight (or celebate). Martin Luther King Jr. was straight. Maddonna's straight. i could go on.

This is the best response from above: "Think of the egos we get from having a dick. And imagine if we had two."

I have never thought of it like that. But its true! I haven't been able to succinctly identify how it is I felt when I am in public. Ding! You are right on. Two. Not one but 2!
