USA and Mexico have better recent performances compared to Italy and Germany in the friendlies played by them
who have drawn more matches in recent past and hence have earned lesser points in fifa ranking system..
also the fifa provides points according to the skill level of the opponent u beat also..
"For each team only the seven best results per year are given full weighting. Results from the past are given progressively less weighting year by year until after eight years they are dropped completely. In this way current success is rated more highly than past results."

The current FIFA ranking system is based on the number of game/matches the team plays. Germany being the host does not have to play in the qualifying rounds. So Germany is rank much lower than USA and Mexico play more matches.
It's more of a 'number game' which does not take into account the standard of the soccer leagues in the country, the quality of players etc.
Hopefully we'll see some changes in the ranking system that takes into account the qualitative factors.

I know. It's ridiculous right? I believe the ranking will change after the WC. But I will be surprise if USA is still in the top 10.

coz USA and Mexico r playing easy games that they win all the time so they gain points
but germany and itali in europe it is much harder then what they play in north america so they have less point
