Even more frightening is that I live in San Diego and the missile was aimed for the West Coast :( I have a 3 year old and the thought of this crazy world just scares me for her. Does anyone know what this long range missile could actually do if it did reach the us? Don't we have technology to detect it before it reaches us and knock it out?? Sorry for all the Q's..just really concerned!! (Especially bcuz all of our trips are everywhere but here)

I can certainly share your concern. I am an Australian and the missiles are capable of hitting the northern parts of Australia.
North Korea is Communist whilst south Korea is free (Republic) They have been totally paranoid since the Korean war ended back in the 50's. There are only 13 million people in north Korea who occupy a worthless piece of real estate that no one wants but the government there have the people convinced that "America could attack at any time" America is not interested in attacking North Korea up until now that is however, having said that, the world can not afford to turn North Korea loses with nuclear capability as they are simply too unstable as is Iran. Yes, its a big worry and I expect the nations will ban together and impose embargoes against the North Koreans which will have the effect of virtually starving the country into submission. In the case of Iran, the President there has publicly stated that Israel should be wiped off the map however it seems that he has underestimated the resolve of the Israelis as they will strike first and take out all the nuclear facilities in Iran. For the sake of world peace neither North Korea or Iran can be allowed to go nuclear capable. We all share your concern on this subject.

Everyone should be afraid....very afraid. And, if you live on the California coast, you probably have more to worry about than most. That being said, I understand that these missiles can go just about anywhere in the US.

My understanding is that we do have the technology to detect these missiles before they reach the US. Has it been tested? Uh...uh...uh....uh....dunno.

Don't let the media kid you...this is more than N.Korea acting like a child wanting to get attention. They have the missiles and they intend to use them.

Watch tomorrow's news as there will be a scramble among Japan, US, China, etc. to try to stop these tests. The UN will be rocking and rolling tomorrow.

I say "nuke" them. Who needs N. Korea, anyway? Certainly, not S. Korea. And, most certainly not the US.

We can't just sit back and allow these maniacs to continue with their tests and their threats. They definitely pose a serious threat to the US as well as Russia and Japan and I think you will see a pretty strong reaction tomorrow. Today.....the US was on "vacation".

LET FREEDOM RING!

No, the missiles are just a diversion, or a means to provoke a US attack. The north Koreans don't need to fool around with dodgy missiles to service their targets. They have sleeper agents in the major cities of the USA building bombs, or sitting next to completed ones. There are also up to 70 nuclear devices in the hands of al Qaida operatives in the USA. So, don't fret about the missiles, but don't be surprised if it all blows up in your face anyway. Good luck.

The only parts of the US that was in the range of their missiles were Hawaii and Alaska.

And America is producing technology to do so but when they shoot a missile down it might hit another innocent country - possilbly one that up till that point was a US Ally

they're trying to intimidate us/instill fear & it's working like a charm.apart from obvious threats such as this issue that can apparently be avoidable, sudden natural disasters/freak accidents can strike anywhere, anytime.so even if one decides to move someplace 'safer' that's away from harms way,i don't think that it'll necessarily give me peace of mind.i mean some people freaked out after the terrorist attacks and stocked up on emergency supplies & their paranoia convinced some to get gas masks & were even advised to duct tape their windows/doors closed in case there was a chemical warfare.i think they also wanted to cause chaos in our minds.i didn't stock up on supplies but it did alter my perspectives on the world.ironically, statistics prove that more americans die from car accidents due to a****** drivers, than from terrorist attacks.i think we should worry more about bad drivers & their probability to harm/kill other innocent people lol however,do whatever one feels necessary for sanity & safety's sake.

it seems like our detection devices aren't working effectively or quick enough and using a missile to try and annihilate the opposing missile will still put civilians in danger due to the power of the explosion & random debris from the outcome that'll crashland on the ground.example)even if we knew of a terrorist threat, our reaction time was not on track & we couldn't really do anything to stop the world trade center & pentagon attacks.

N. Korea is not a threat. Kim Il Jong is trying to extort the rest of the world. What you should be freaked out about is Iran, whose leader is a religious fanatic who wouldn't hesitate to use the bomb on innocent people.

I'm not freaked out. I live in a military area and there is always a lot of hoopla whenever something happens. I don't let it stress me out. Stressing about it won't change whatever will/won't happen. We never know how long our lives will be, anyway. I just try to enjoy and make the most of the present.

Take care.

He launched three missiles and only one of them was suppose to be able to reach U.S. soil and it was a dud. I think he just wants attention since no one really cares about him anymore.
