I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse and you have cystitis. the red is blood, this caused by the acid burning your skin/flesh at the neck of your urethra. Drink at least 2 litres of water a day and plenty of cranberry juice and get to the doctor for antibiotics-FAST or you will end up with a kidney infection

When I was nine years old I had a really sharp burning pain whenever I passed water and there was blood in my urine hence the red colour. The pain was usually near the end too. I was too embarrassed to tell my parents and left it until I could not stand the pain any longer which meant that I was rushed to hospital. I had a kidney infection and because I had left it so long I damaged my kidneys and was very lucky indeed that the doctors were able to treat me. I was in hospital for a week having blood tests a couple times a day, having all bodily secretions checked every day and I ended up having a rather painful x-ray during which they pumped dye around my body, via a butterfly in my arm, to check if everything was working satisfactorily. When I was discharged I had to take a liquid medicine about 3 or 4 times a day for a while but the pain went away and my kidneys stopped bleeding and healed themselves. As a result of the damage I caused by leaving it so long I still get pains now if I have not drunk enough liquid and I did have one relapse when I was 18 but was sensible enough to go to the doctor immediately and a course of medication cleared it up straight away. I have to be careful that I drink enough liquids because my kidneys are not as strong as they should be but apart from that I don't have any other problems. I do not know if your drug use has any affect on your problem though I suspect it can't be good. I would advise going to your doctor immediately. If you have got a kidney infection and leave it too long you could end up damaging your kidneys beyond repair. Best case scenario is life sustaining drugs for the rest of your life (which can damage your heart leading to heart surgery - this happened to my best friend in college) or worse case scenario is dialysis and a kidney transplant. Far better to just take some medicine for a few weeks and clear it up now though. Hope this helps.

May l ask why have you been on amphetamines for up to 5 years?
Burning pain at the end of passing water = dysuria
Red colouration of urine = haematuria
These are both symptoms of an ascsending Urinary Tract Infection...they do not sound typical of amphetamine toxicity.
Are you on amphetamine medication for ADHD or narcolepsy?
lf you are, then your doses of amphetamines are probably medically regulated and unlikely to cause liver or kidney damage,as Dashabout very rightly said...
lf, on the other hand, your use of the drug is purely recreational, without medical supervision, then you may be suffering some degree of toxicity.Amphetamine toxicity usually affects the heart, digestive or respiratory systems but can also damage the kidneys.
Prolonged use of amphetamines also causes decreased immunity which in turn may allow more frequent UTI's ...
Please see your doctor.

This definitely sounds like cystitis, but the fact that you have blood in your urine means that the infection has moved up towards your kidneys.

Get to your doctor as soon as you can and they will give you antibiotics for this.

If you can't get an appointment immediately and you are in the UK, try and get Cystemme from the chemist which are little sachets you dissolve in water and drink. This may give you some relief.

Also drinking cranberry juice will help you. Avoid caffeine if you can as this could make it worse.

Get well soon.

Has this been going on for as long as you've been taking the medication, or soon after you started?
Beause it sounds like you have the symptoms of a typical bladder infection, I don't know whether or not your meds may trigger this problem. It happens. I suggest you get checked out, if it is a bladder infection and you are already seeing blood in your urine it has gotten pretty bad. Anyhow, you should at least call your doctor.

Yea, a uti is what I would say too. Could be a std, but your gp is the best first stop. Don't be embarassed, this may be the 1st time for you, but doctors see this sort of thing on a daily basis. If your own Doc' isnt of the same sex as you, you may prefere when making the apt to see one, to ask the receptionist to make an apt' with a same sex doctor, or to ask for someone else to be with you that you trust, or even a same sex nurse if one is available.
Good luck.

Yeah, amphetamines (if that's what you meant) can cause liver damage, which can affect your urine. Either way, you're going to have to get your *** to a doctor sooner or later, might as well take the plunge and make it sooner.
Tell them everything, because it's not like they can tell anyone else, it's illegal for them to do so. Just go in there and get it overwith.

Sounds like a severe urinary tract infection, although blood in the urine can also indicate an internal injury.
Get to the doctor straight away.
