not the typical fireworks on display over any town or city. from space the collective lights of the populated regions can be seen as one large cluster of lights. the fireworks would have this cluster of lights as a backdrop so it would be impossible to distinguish them from one another.
think of it this way: you know how at night when a car is approaching from far away, the headlights seem like one headlight and you can only tell them apart when the car gets closer and closer? imagine if that car were 100 miles away. it's kinda like that where the city lights are the headlights and the fireworks are little bitty flash lights ;p
like the guy said before, it would have to be some ginormous fireworks.

Possibly, it would have to be a huge firework, and have to be a flawlessly clear viewing area from space.

No, there are too many clouds, atmospheric dust, etc. Plus the displays are really small compared to space.

Good question. I was thinking the same thing tonight. I guess with the naked eye it would be darn near impossible. Maybe someone from NASA could help answer this?

No, because they are only a few feet above the ground and space is quite a few miles.
