water. Density is a comparison of weight versus mass. So if something occupies a gallon of space and weighs 100 pounds or occupies a gallon of space and weight1 pound the heavier is obviously more dense.

From what I've read and understand a gallon of vegetable oil weighs in at almost exactly 8 pounds. A gallon of water weighs in and about 8.33 pounds. Therefore water would be more dense.

By the way, seeing isn't believing if u hv optical illusions. oil is less dense than water because when u pour both into a glass cup, oil "floats". This is because the density of oil is lower than that of water.

If, by density, you mean mass per volume then water is more dense. Oil floats on water and therefore has is less dense.

That Hugh is a laugh a minute.

Well water is well water. Of course it is! it comes out of a well.

Oil floats on water not because of any trapped bubbles but because it is less dense than water.
