I have limited time in Cancun. I have one extra day and wanted to decide between Isla de Mujeres vs Xel Ha. Which place has better snorkeling?

Isla de Mujeres is much more relaxing and beautiful, great, calm beaches, not alot of tourists. I've been there 3 times, and i will always go back.

Isla de Mujeres is more bang for your buck. When you go to the ferry dock, do not purchase a ticket for the ferry. Instead you can charter a local boat to take you all around the island. We paid a couple of kids $100 to take 5 of us across to the island in their boat. They took us all around the island and showed us the best places to snorkel. They caught us fresh fish and took us to their mother's house where she prepared us a fabulous feast. $100 for an entire day of fun and food for five is not a bad deal. Xel Ha cost over $50 for one person-no food included!

I'd rather go to Isla Mujeres, since it you can snorkel at your pace (e.g. in garrafon park) while Xel-Ha is more like a family park. In any case both places had turned really crowded.
