it is your life and your father can NOT control what your choice in life is..... sat your family down and tell them the truth .. they may be shocked at first but maybe they will come around , after all they are your family. live for yourself , don't live to make someone else happy because they are a control freak. or you could stay in the closet with it.. that's your choice in life as we all have choices but it would be better coming from you than someone else telling your family
Good luck

I say find a family member who you is not going to react like the others and have a long heart to heart with them. Let that conversation sink in and see how it feels to actually tell someone and then, depending on your relationship with your family, either tell them all at once, or one by one, in the SAME DAY and also with your first person by your side. You could also take a lot of time and effort to write it all down and possibly mail the letter and let them get back to you. Let them digest it on their own terms and then talk about it.

Throwing a party to come out to family members, who you already know will freak is just ignorant, selfish, and just plain bad business!

I say all of this, but I would like you to know that I don't think homosexuality is right, but I do think there is a right way to go about it.

Hook up with a gay support group in your area or with gay friends first. There is a good chance that no matter how you tell it, if you're family is unaccepting they may ask or force you to leave the home. If you're already out on your own, support is good, and hopefully with time the controlling people will learn to accept the decision you've personally made for your sexual preference.

If you feel you are ready to come out of the closet then do so. Be honest, open and deliver what you have to say in a gentle way. Don't be surprised if tempers flare. Nasty words are likely to be said. And you must prepare yourself for the possibility that one or both of your parents may not speak to you again or view you in the same way. Do I think that's right? No, but it is highly possible. Then again....they may surprise you with an outpouring of love and support. No matter what....know that you are a good person and just because others don't care for your lifestyle doesn't mean you have to change. If they truly love and care for you they will accept you regardless even if they don't approve. Best of luck and my thoughts are with you.

Have a family event and tell them all at once. Provide food and Kleenex and give them time to digest your news.

I think it would be easier for you if you talk first to the member of your family that you are closest with. Be honest and be confident.
