My mom is a twin, and I was pregnant with twins. So yes it is possible!

Having fraternal twins is genetic and passed from your mom, but having identical twins is just a fluke where the fertilized egg splits, and you get two. If your mom is fraternal, then you have the gene for it, and are more likely than average to have twins. But if your mom is identical, it is just as likely for you as it is for anyone else who is pregnant. One indicator is when you are only 1 or 2 days along and your urine test comes out not just lightly pink, but magenta! It means you have more hcg (the thing that urine tests look for) than the average woman, and this is something that increases with multiples!

If either parent has a history of twins in their family there is a higher than normal chance of twins. Any time that anyone gets pregnant there is a chance of twins.

So, yes, you could not only be pregnant with twins but have a greater chance than the average woman.

I know with me on both sides of my family it skips everyother generation. Plus my dad is a twin. And on my moms side my grandma had 4 sets of twins. So yeah you have a good chance. Hope the best.

You have a greater chance of having twins since they run in your family, unfortunetly its too early to tell how many you have on board......you will know when they do the first ultrasound (usually around 4 months) they may do it earlier if there is a problem. Best thing is to sit tight, eat your veggies and pray for what you want, time will reveal all.

Twins do run in the family.

They will be able to hear two heartbeats when the time comes. They can pick up a really strong heartbeat at 12 weeks. I'm not sure about any earlier though.

It is a real possibility, but by no means definite. My mom is also a twin, and my wife and I are expecting our first child in December. We also wondered if we might have twins, but the child is only one.

Anyone can become pregnant with twins. It doesn't matter whether or not your parents were or not. But it is somewhat genetic. But from patterns it normally skips a generation. But definately possible.
