Babies spit up for many different reasons. The main one is just that the valve at the stomach opening needs to mature. It's supposed to be a one-way valve (food goes down but can't come up), but it takes it a while to learn that. It can also be caused by a baby swallowing air--when the air comes up, it brings whatever was on top of it, too.
Projectile vomiting is usually a sign of a problem, often allergies. But it can also be caused by a virus.

In infants? its because they swallow air, and they can't get it out on their own, You have to burp the baby frequently, at least three times per 6 oz bottle in order for them to get all the gas out. In anyone else, its a spasm of thestomach muscles that forces the contents back out through the esophagus.

i have 3 children and all of them have or have had acid reflux. my youngest son who is now 14mnths old has been by far the worst! most children grow out of it, sometimes changing their formula will help (maybe to a lacto-free), also you may want to try not laying them down for at least 30 min. after they eat, burp them more frequently, and a couple tablespoons of cereal to their bottle and if none of that helps you should seriosly consider consulting you pediatrician. good luck, i hope one of these will help

Often it is simply from air bubbles in the stomach caused by swallowing air.
It is a sign of stomach conditions such as nervousness, ulcers, and other illnesses like disease or viruses.

All babies do that. Just make sure you burp the baby after feedings and if baby still seems to spit up a bit to much then maybe the baby is allergic to what ever you are feeding it. Even if you are breast feeding.
