I've noticed that you can subconsiously alter your laugh by being around someone who you think has a "good" laugh. i.e. someone who doesn't constantly embarass themself while laughing.

I'm not positive why everyone laughs different, but it's just like people have different ways of speaking, like different accents and such. I've noticed (and heard from other sources) a couple of different styles including: Snorters, belly laughs, 'snakes' (where you don't really let out a laugh but rather a hiss... sssss), hyenas, and the all too fameous "Fran Drescher" laugh... I myself am a snake... and maybe a few accidental snorts sometimes...

Laughter is part of the universal human vocabulary. Therefore, because we don't all speak the same language or even speak a similar language the same way, then we all laugh different.

because everyone has different larynx and pharynx structure or the environment might have an affect on a person's laugh.
