can they find out info about you from your cell? am i safe?

It's always dangerous to give personal information to someone you do not know. With the reverse lookups and background checks available online, it is better to be safe.
If this is a "friend" than institute the online chat feature, or get their number and use *67 before you call to block your number from them.
This way, you don't give your information until you feel completely comfortable with them having it. And if you are asking this question.... then you are not quite comfortable enough with this person yet.
Remember, the internet is a great tool, and on it people can "be" anything/anyone they want to. They can be smarter (dictionary.com) and wittier and quote poetry (quotes.com) . They can also be honest and genuine, but YOU have to be careful of YOUR safety because no one can do that better than you.

they can do a reverse lookup and find your address, they have your area code and your name...thus they know where you live, and with the prefix of your cell number can narrow that down to what city...No your not safe, its dangerous, be cautious online, never give your number out on here!

Yes they can find information on the internet about you if you give them your cell phone number. If it was somebody you know then you don't have to worry about it.

giving a number on the net is always dangerous.It can be spread to a number of people &also if the person to whom u provide the same is a playboy, he will find information from that no & will lead to troubles.Just have chat and if u like the one & would like to talk the ask for his no.Contact & talk to him and then if u r ready to meet him then give your no on your ist date.

They can pay to have a reverse look-up done and find out your name and possibly where you live.
