Write my Representatives often, go to town halls and local council meetings. I know my local party leader personally. Make contributions to candidates I like and causes I agree with. Put my arguments out and discuss with people so I might sway some opinion.

I am very active in a network of local libertarians. We set up booths at fairs and tell them about our party. We went door to door last election to get Doug Anderson elected into the Lakewood, CO, city council. He beat the republican incumbent! Also, we tried to get the citizens to vote against the sales tax increase, but they passed it anyway. Stupid voters. It was close though. We also set up meetings with special guest speakers, and do many random things that I can't think of right now.

Personally, I try my darndest talking to everyone about third parties, and how necessary it is for America to get out of this two party stranglehold.

Further, i run a libertarian group on pokah.com. Point is, I feel as though I do my part. I would like to run for congress some day, but not for another 10 years or so, and most likely with the libertarian party.

You can influence other people (and learn things too) by talking to them about what you think is right for the nation and the community. Practice and refine your ideas and also their presention so that you can be there to give the right person at the right time the information they need to see issues your way.

Many folks become involved using their checkbooks, too.

I watch the political channel to keep up with amendments or changes to our existing laws, and write to the polical parties if some of those changes seem unfair.
