It is normal. Really it is .. your right for not peeling it .. itching sucks. Keep using the lubriderm. 4 or 5 times a day is alright.. its been a week you can up it a bit.
The blotchiness is most likley the healed skin looking slightly lighter under the darker still kinda scabbed skin.
Once it is all healed look at it and if there are white spots in it and chunks of color missing you are going to need touch ups.
BUT that does not normally happen unless you were picking at it or the ink didnt "take" for a variety of reasons.

Yes, it's normal. Use the clear neosporin, I think that would be better than Lubriderm. That's what I used anyway. And don't scratch!!!

yeah it'll peel just like it was a sunburn , the very top layer of skin dies when it is tattooed just like when sunburned , keep it clean , don't scratch use what the tattoo shop gave you to put on it (if they didn't give you anything ,then neosporen works good )

What you have are the first symptoms of Riker's Disease.
Your skin will continue to become dry and itchy and eventually the pain will drive you mad.
You shouldn't have tried to become "trendy" with a stupid tattoo in the first place.
Good luck.

It's normal but do not use neosporin it contains zinc oxide which can ruin your new tatoo. It's best to use tattoo goo. which you can find at a tattoo place or A & D ointment. which you can find in the baby isle.

it happens and the peeling will stop. keep it moisturised at all times until it's completely healed. it will be fine.

Sometimes you need to go back in after it's healed and have it touched up a bit.
