I hear all the time that the baby boomers are an awsome generation. What did they do? Spit on members of the miltary, say how the USA is so bad, run to Canada when asked to serve their country, try to disprove religion as much as possible, then the worst of all, they hated and made fun of Superman, and now days they want everyone to jump to their wants and needs, they did not prepare for the future.

I am a baby boomer, born in 1946 to parents who conceived me immediately upon daddy arriving home from WW11. We are a unique bunch of people as you stated. What I see that is different about us is our ability to still have playfulness left in us even as we reach old age, we look at things less seriously; consequently some of us are not prepared for retirement because we've been too busy living in the "present." I never made fun of Superman and I don't know anybody who did. We were raised in a time of history where in some places we slept on the porch without worry about being murdered, never locked a door or window, left the windows up without fear of being burglarized, gas was $.15 a gallon, there were few choices like we have today but we are easier to please than the newer generations, we are a healthy lot of people, and some people are saying we are going to break social security. Well if we do, SS wasn't well prepared either.
I don't personally know any individuals who spit on the military members, as I grew up in a state where we respected the military. I also didn't know anybody who said our USA is bad; in fact the contrary is true about the state of Oklahoma. I'm not aware of one Okie who ran to Canada to get away from being made to serve our country. Religion has always been a personal issue here in Oklahoma and nobody has disproved anybody else's choices. We were not a spoiled lot of of people and had respect and self respect; we are good workers and are responsible; some of us have not made good parents because we've indulged our children, but not all of us have.

I believe every generation has some awesome members to contribute to society. As a baby boomer, I value all groups of people which is another positive trait about us--we are pretty free thinkers and accepting of others differences. I realize all eras of people have strong and weak points, and it's up to the individual to make the most of his/her life.

There are an awful lot of them, so they make up a powerful marketing demographic. Coupled with a good disposable income, that makes for a lot of businesses, services and products wanting to get a piece of the action, and so yes it seems like a lot of catering to their needs goes on. Some people from that generation fled to Canada rather than fight an immoral war, however, many stayed in the US and worked hard to create long-needed change in the world. Espousing peace, love and acceptance isn't a bad thing. They did prepare for the future, actually, by promoting ecology and pointing out the dangers of pollution and global warming. Baby boomers are some of the most financially stable people around, especially when you look at the debt load of a lot of 20-somethings. The music from that generation speaks to people from all walks of life, and transcends generations. Seems like you might just be a bit jealous of their success?

nice try, you are saying that all people were like the few who got publicity. And basically, the people who grew up in the 60's did try to save for their future, but the people who grew up in the 80's are all crooks, and robbed the banks and trust corporations and stole all the money of the babyboomers.
