Good question, and one you should continue asking yourself and others. The answer isn't simple. We are at war today because the president, with the support of the legislature, thinks we should be. Their reasons are complex - political, economic and emotional. Understanding those reasons, and exploring them yourself is the basis of being an informed citizen.

In my opinion for President Bush it is about the oil, and terrorism, and the fact that Saddam tried to have his daddy killed. I don't agree with him and know for a fact that that intelligence was manipulated with regards to WMD (weapons of mass destruction) in Iraq.

For others in Congress, it is about supporting their political party, or terrorism, or making sure we don't treat our soldiers as badly as we did during VietNam.

the reason we are at war is because of 9/11 i know you have to remember that!!!! The men and women that signed up to be in the Army, Marines, National Guard so on and so forth new what they were getting themselves into. They signed up to protect this country from terrorist. If Bill Clinton would have done what he was suppose to when he was in office instead of spending all of his time in the Oval Office with Monica, then we wouldn't be were we are today. I for one wish that American soldiers would come home but apparently there is some reason that they can't yet.

there is war because people think that it't the best way to settle things up... really, i also find it ridiculous when nations would declare war against another nation just to solve their poblem and have peace... but i think they never thought about the effects of wars. a lot or people are dying and most of them are civilian and innocent people... dying for your country is necessary, but dying for your country's absurdity?! oh come on... we need to have a cease fire here!
