Sing along with the radio.

Turn the radio up to a good jam, you can either sing along with the song or you can move to the rhythm. Also you can chew some food or have a hands free phone and talk all the way to where you are going because that will definitely keep you up and alert.

Depending on where you are or where you are going, you might want to look into gettin' Serius Satellite Radio or XFM. There's a lot of places in north america that can turn you postal real quick if you either have no music at all, religious stations that play nothing but hymns and try to save your soul. At least with satellite radio, you can have your choice of music, news programs or comedy at your fingertips. I'd like to get one, but my girlfriend is a radio personality at the local Classic Rock station and she hates satellite radio. Damn you woman. I don't even listen to it most of the time anyway cuz I usually got Slayer or Pantera cranked on my CD or MP3 Player.

OK , here's what I do. . .not necessarily in this order:

Listen/sing along with my CDs

Try to time my cruise control speed to just miss the semi in front of me before changing lanes

Chug caffeine (usually diet Cokes)

Try to stay as far away from oncoming traffic as I can on two lane highways

Pray for angel protection

Have a long talk with God

Think of things I'd like to do to my worst enemy. (Sounds contradictory from the above, I know, but I still do it.)

well when I'm on a long hi-way drive I,

Jam to the stereo
Dream about the lead singer of Nickelback
Think about what it would be like to be rich
Talk on the phone
Look at state tags
Check out dudes
check out scenery ,if any

Think about not trying to think so hard!
There's more if I'm not alone but i don't know how old you are..
:)

I drive as much of the trip as I can. I find long distance driving very relaxing.

Listen to music. Try and guess who is driving a vehicle, man or woman. Name all the states.

if you start to feel sleepy PULL OVER and take a nap for 15 minutes or so.
please please don't drive while your sleepy. you put the other drivers on the road in danger, not only them, but yourself too.
the way i see it, if your sleepy and your driving, to me that shows that you only care about yourself. you don't care about hurting anyone else on the road with you.
sometimes all you need is 10-15 minutes of a quick nap. you'll feel refreshed afterwards.

save your eyes transferring, continually sorting out what is going on round you. The site visitors in the front of you, the site visitors in the back of you, billboards, surroundings. and picture about the things you spot. in case your eyes are transferring you won't be able to get in a daze. I also want to bypass on lengthy, loud tirades about how stupid each and every thing is.
