An easy way to do this is to put the equation into the form y = mx + b, where m is the slope.

4y = -3x + 11
y = (-3/4)x + 11

Hence, the slop is -3/4.

if you put the equation into Slope intercept form it would help a lot... (y=mx+b) where m is the slope and b is the y intercept

so.. y=-3x/4+11/4

so the slope is -3/4

Nice try to make others do your homework. However your idea of learning is not in line with modern learning theories. Try to cycle some hills first to get the idea of slopes.
By the way your answer should be between -0.5 and -1 and should coincide with your downhill cycle experiences.

3x + 4y = 11

First you need to find out what both x and y equals.

3x + 4y = 11
x + 4y = 11/3
x + 4y (-4y) = 11/3 - 4y
x = 11/3 - 4y
Divide 11 by 3
There's your x

3x +4y = 11
3x +y = 11/4
y = 11/4 - 3x
Divide 11 by 4
There's your y.
