My axolotl is 6 inches long. How old would he be?

I got him from a pet shop who didnt know how old he was

He is an adult. An axolotl is a salamander that never completes its metamorphosis from a tadpole to an adult. It remains a giant tadpole all its life breathing through gills. The axolotl can never leave the water to explore dry land.The axolotl is the oddest amphibians.
