this is my first job ever and i have never called in sick. plus, there are a ton of family events that are happening in august and i've missed so many because of work already. the hours suck for my social life but are perfect for school.. which doesn't start until the third week of august. what do i do??

For me it would depend on the job mkt in my area. When you are ready to go back, are you going to be able to find another job with the same hours? Also, you never said if you really LIKE the job. Because taking one you don't like, just because it's the only one with the hrs you need, could be worse. Could you ask for a leave of absence? Ask, if they so no, then put in your notice. Remember, family is sooo important, I lost my step-father, my uncle and my Grandfather within 3 years. Only one of them was sick. You never know who will or will not be around next August....your young, you'll probably have many different jobs in your life time...go have fun if you feel you can find another job when you get back...

I would not just up and quit my job. If you are in school and the hours are perfect for when you are in school I would continue to work maybe ask for a day or two off in August. Because when school starts back you might want a part-time job. That extra money could look good say along about Oct. Nov. Think about it.

You need to stick with the job. You can always request the days off that you need off. You need to be responsible and keep working.
