Not a question, but a suggestion. I AM NOT RACIST.

Today when watch tv, what do you see? White people. When you sign up for a job at Hollister saying you are any other ethnicity but White, against a White person, who do they choose? When you are any other ethnicity but White and you go to Nordstrom, do they ask if you need any help, or watch the door to make sure you didn't steal? When you go watching "The O.C.", where are the Asians? Where are the Hispanics? Where are the Blacks? Nothing but caterers, janitors, and drivers. When you watch MTV, despite the sexual depicting music videos, all you can see are White people. America is making those young children of other races and ethnicities feel lower. We buy bleach creams and blonde our hairs and wear blue contacts just to look like Paris Hilton, just because she is White, we think she is perfect, despite the fact she is just another stupid blonde. Look at the lengths Michael Jackson went through! Look at the presidents! All White!

When people say one of these three phrases before explaining something to you. Be ready to hear some major bullshot.

1. I am not a racist but......

2. This is a true story ok so....

3. You know I love you but.....

I'm white, and I completely agree. I know that you are not racist or even prejudice because everything you have said is true. The fact of the matter is that the US was built by white Europeans who killed or enslaved everyone who was not white. The effects of those actions are still felt today. The majority of the upper and middle class is white, while the lower class is mostly everything else. This is not because white people are better, but because the white government that we have has done nothing to change the social structure that still lingers from the civil war. Most white people don't even recognize what is going on. It is quite sad. I have been lucky enough to attend a college that is very culturally diverse. It has definitely opened my eyes some to the real world around me. Though, I don't think that I will ever be able to fully understand. I can only try.

WHITE POWER!!!
kidding... kidding
im no redneck racist...

But... if a white person and a black person sign up for a job
the person who is most qualified will mak the job
say... the black person was in school for 8 years and dropped out..
the white person went and finished school and graduated and went to college...
the white person will more than likely get the job then
but if its the other way around the black person would get the job.
its something you can't look at like oh she/he got it because their white nah that just isn't even right to claim.

EDIT:
but... the way you come in here saying the whites dont give a damn etc.
that is stupid if someone said something like
"the blacks dont give a damn about anything but there caddys"
im sure you would be pretty mad...

but hell i dont care someone can call me whity, cracker, honkey
i really dont care

but... if a black person calls another black person a *****
they dont mine
a white person says that they get mad

you let stuff get to you too easily

there is a black history month there is a BET on cable
there are rap stations on the radio

you shoudn't be so cynical to all matters and assume that all white people are racist...

sorry if i offended anyone i really am not trying to but its annoying when someone is whinning about how they think something is racist when it really isn't.

What I see when I turn on the TV, commercials that have just about every race they squeeze in because heaven forbid they get tagged with "racism"!! So TV sometimes tries to over-compensate and you see alot of mixed races in a single group....obviously an attempt to not offend anyone - at least you see that on "white TV". I watched a Mexican station for over an hour and I did not see alot of diversity there, I can say the same for BET. I say "people stop your whining!!" No one is ever satisfied. I bet if it was YOUR ethnic group you saw everywhere you wouldn't be moaning about it! I think to solve the problem, lets just all go back to where we came from originally, obviously we can't get along together. All whites go back to Europe, latinos back to Mexico, and blacks back to mother Africa. Would that be a better solution? Would you rather not live in America?

OMG I am sick of hearing about having a (black) president, too. What about a female president?!! I'd vote for GeogiaPeach (you go girl!!)

White is a pretty generic term that covers a WHOLE lot of people. I get annoyed when people assume that all white people are a certain way, just as when they assume all any other group are all the same. There is too much diversity within the artificial 'color' groupings which we chose to put so much emphasis on for them to have any validity. Certainly there are cultural differences between African Americans, Hispanic Americans and 'white' Americans. But within the grouping of 'white' Americans there are even more cultural differences eg. North and South, East and West, rich and poor, Baby Boom, Gen X and Gen Y,white collar, blue collar and pink collar, the ethnic origin of our ancestors.......

It is my firm hope that our young people and those that follow are becoming less focused on these stupid, artificial distinctions. The human race has enough to worry about without worrying about 'racial' differences.

I agree with your observations. However, I have not been able to figure out how to fix this except by trying not to contribute to it. I guess people better than me have been working on fixing it for a long time. Maybe discourse is an answer, but that might just result in more "navel-gazing" and nothing-changing. Discrimination is embedded in popular culture, in the way we raise our children, in how we decide who to arbitrarily trust and who to suspect and who to deny of due process, in who we want to eat with vs. who we want to cook our food. See how you list all of these things and people immediately call you racist instead of sticking to the actual issue? It's because many people choose to see only in black and white, good and evil, racist and tolerant. You prefaced your statement with "I am not a racist" because you knew that with what you were going to say, some fool would automatically label you as a racist, and even though you addressed it straight out it happened anyway. Damned if you do, damned if you don't sometimes, right? Value-laden dichotomies such as these can detract from important questions, like why do so many people feel that the US is an equitable society with equality afforded to all when this is so obviously untrue?
By the way, I do give a damn, and I don't care if you believe me or not.

Are you freaking serious. Look at MTV-all I see are rap videos with black people. I can't shop at some of the stores because they cater to black and Hispanic people. There are many, many shows on tv depicting black families. I think you are just trying to start something be getting everyone all riled up. Paris Hilton is not perfect, I don't think that just because she is white than everyone wants to be her. You need to come out from under the bushes and face reality. Blacks, Hispanics, and all other races are just as predominate as white people in our society.

And cudos to Georgia Peach. She got it right on the money

On MTV you see blacks or asians. Music videos are all black, and asians make the videos. Im not being racist, I'm being realistic. White people are not going to vote for a black president, and that may never stop, but you are not going to change people's opinions by whining to the government or anybody else. Just keep your thoughts to yourself and let other people live without having to listen to you. White people do not rule the world, most of the world isn't white, it's asian. So shutup and listen to Carlos Mencia, who has a TV show, who is mexican, or Dave Chappelle, who is black, who has a TV show, or George Lopez, who is Mexican, who has a TV show. SHUT THE HELL UP AND GET YOUR FREIKEN FACTS STRAIGHT YOU LITTLE BASTARD.

I don't think young children in American feel low about themselves. Our schools nowdays are all about inclusion and being equal. And in response to your suggestion that many Americans are using blonde dye and blue contacts...maybe so....but HOW DO THOSE TANNING BED OWNERS STAY IN BUSINESS??????
As far as TV goes.....you're just picking out the ones that you THINK are being unfair to other races.....what about JUDGE JOE BROWN (black judge) The Jeffersons, Sanford & Son, The Cosby Show, Good Times (those were really good shows to be so long ago and even back then there were some really racist comments about white people on those shows...especially The Jeffersons and Sanford & Son) On The Cosby Show, Dr. Huxtable was an OB/GYN and Mrs. Huxtable was a LAWYER. What about Law & Order...the cops/lawyers/judges on there aren't all white and they have just as many white people committing crimes as Mexicans, Blacks, Etc.
In response to your Hollister comment....how many white people do you see working in the Baby Phat store for example?

I don't know why your race has so many problems with the WHITE race when you have been given so many amenities that the WHITE race are not included in.

I would say "YOU ARE VERY RACIST".

You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you, so why
are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?

You have the United ***** College Fund.
You have Martin Luther King Day.
You have Black History Month.
You have the NAACP.
You have BET.

If we had WET(white entertainment television) we'd be racists.

If we had a White Pride Day you would call us racists.

If we had White History Month, we'd be racists.

If we had an organization for only whites to "advance" our
lives, we'd be racists.

If we had a college fund that only gave white students
scholarships, you know we'd be racists.

There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US,
yet if there were 0ne "White college" that would be a racist college.

In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching
for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.

You are proud to be black and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.

You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us.

But, when a white police officer shoots a black gang member or
beats up a black drug-dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.

I am proud to be white and I'm not a racist.

But, you call me a racist.

Why is it that only whites can be racists?

going to die tomorrow." - Mahatma Gandhi

I hate to break it to you, but you ARE being racist. Perhaps the reason you see so many white people in the media is because over 80% of America's population is WHITE. This is a reflection of demographics, not intentional racism.

If you want greater minority representation, then get off your rear and do something about it. Don't whine about it on Y! Answers. And if you do feel the need to whine, please make at least a slightly better attempt to seem fair-minded.
