Don't try to melt the ends with a lighter or match but rather hold the ends to a burner of a stove to melt the plastic and hold the ends together until it sticks. If this doesn't work I would say to try some super-glue. I ripped mine before on accident and it worked for me so good luck!!!

hmm...have no idea! i have had the same thing happen to me, and i can't find anything to work. can't you just go buy another one (they aren't that expensive)
