If you're close to the states...try south of the border and pay the duty. Otherwise, all you can do is visit every Mini or BMW dealer in your area(the bigger the area, the better the chances), and make it known that you are shopping price only. This is the car I want...maybe you can get a no trade discount and sell your trade in yourself? maybe you can negotiate a larger trade in on your present car? Maybe you can find a comparable car and hint that you're leaning towards it, rather than a Mini Cooper. If you're sealed on the deal with a Mini Cooper, and the dealer thinks he's going to be the one to sell it to you...He's got you where he wants you...no discount, mark up every option, throw in the extras until you scream...all you can do is make sure he knows you've got lots of options and make him want your sale more than you want to buy from him. Good Luck, Mini's are selling as fast as they make them.
