I haven't had my period for 4 years and recently was given some meds to start it and I have been off of them for well over a week and still no period. I have for the past 2 months had unprotected sex with someone and can't take bc until I have a period. Anyway I was wondering if it is possible that the Provera didn't start my period because I could be pregnant but every test I have taken comes up as negative?

Pregnancy tests can be wrong, but it's not that simple.

Pregnancy tests look for a hormone that is only found in pregnant women. If the level of the chemical is low at the time the woman takes the test, you may get a false negative.

However, since the hormone is only found in pregnant women, false positives are not possible.

It is recommended that pregnancy tests be taken a couple days after your period should have started. However, since you haven't had your period in a long time, it is impossible to know how "late" you are.

My advice would be to return to the health department and ask for a blood test to determine if you are indeed pregnant. Given your history of not having periods, I would assume that you are not pregnant. Still, you need to find out for sure.

Good luck! :)

don't worry, if you was taking a form of birth control, that could stop the cycle of your period and it all depend on how long you was taking them. It will take some time for your body to go back to normal. and for your answer I never hear of pregnancy tests be wrong if you goes about it in the right way it shouldn't, in the mean while relax and have safe sex like using a condom.

Yeah, they can be wrong. They have that small percentage of error. If I were you, I would take another test.
