I always get nervous before a race and I didn't know if that would actually slow me down in the race!!!

Yes, because it drains your mental energy you need to suck it up towards the end. Why are you nervous, it's just a 5k? Now, a stair climb race in a 45 story building, that's intimidating.

Nah the adrenaline will help but try to tell yourself b4 a race to relax and calm down...it will help...you know how its done, if you train your body you train your mind...run on brother
P.S. never go into a race already (self) defeated

everyone gets nervous before a race, its normal. just dont let it throw off your game plan. If you plan ahead for how you want to run, its easier to work through the nerves and not let it affect you.

it might, but u usually calm down when the gun goes off. talking to all the runners from the other teams helps me calm down... and a little trash talk is always fun
