I wrote one just last week to one, and he wrote back to me...I got the response yesterday!
It was Nick Barkley from Big Valley...but, hey... I love the man!

If they aren't totally famous yet, there is a pretty good chance. I've actually gotten a few insightful replies from some celebs.
It depends what you write. If you write like a 'yay u! i luv u so much!' letter, don't expect a reply, but if you have a properly written, concise letter, you have a good chance of getting a reply.
Keep in mind, if they are still emerging, they might be too busy to get reply, what with working on getting famous and all. Depends on the person, I guess.

I'm not sure what your chances are but why not write it anyway, if it is an encouraging letter you will feel better about yourself by encouraging someone else and I think that is great. Hope you get a response.

They get sacks of mail delivered every day. Most have a personal assistant to cull through the pile and see if there are any interesting offers, etc. It's pretty unlikely that your celebrity will ever see your letter.. But hey keep the faith, anythings possible.

well the chances are 16 because if they are not so famous they are probably working on albums and touring and visiting places photo shoots and movies in hollywood making tv show and city appearances having gigs because they want to get really famous and are working hard at it and they barely have time to read your letters but i wrote to a kinda famous gymnast nastia liukin and she wrote back to me with a pink envelope and a pretty card and when i asked her to autograph my picture print-outs of her she did so she's really cool so you never know they might!

If they're not that famous [and thus don't get too many letters] and they're good to their fans, there is a good chance you'll get a letter back. If not, though, don't be too upset - it may take a long long time for him or her to write back or he may be too busy to do it or he may never get the letter. I think you have a good chance, though, as long as its not, like, Tom Cruise you're writing to. Good luck!

Very slim. Most crank out a form letter with a simulated signature.
(My wife wrote to Elijah Wood for two years)

You may not get a personal response, but if you beg, you can get some generic form letter, signed by the person. I did that with Montel Williams (for my wife) and got a letter and a signed photo.

You mean an appreciative letter? Probably pretty good that it would at least be acknowledged. Maybe not. But if they are only minorly famous, they might have more time to devote to fan mail.

I have written to a few celebrities and actually have personal responses. Not a prewritten canned letter either.
So the chances are good, according to my experience.
