John Prine
Lyrics for Song: Bruised Orange

My heart's in the ice house come hill or come valley
Like a long ago Sunday when I walked through the alley
On a cold winter's morning to a church house
just to shovel some snow.

I heard sirens on the train track howl naked gettin' nuder,
An altar boy's been hit by a local commuter
just from walking with his back turned
to the train that was coming so slow.

***----->>>>>
You can gaze out the window get mad and get madder,
throw your hands in the air, say "What does it matter?"
but it don't do no good to get angry,
so help me I know

For a heart stained in anger grows weak and grows bitter.
You become your own prisoner as you watch yourself sit there
wrapped up in a trap of your very own
chain of sorrow. ************* <<<<<<<<---------------

I been brought down to zero, pulled out and put back there.
I sat on a park bench, kissed the girl with the black hair
and my head shouted down to my heart
"You better look out below!"
Hey, it ain't such a long drop don't stammer don't stutter
from the diamonds in the sidewalk to the dirt in the gutter
and you carry those bruises to remind you wherever you go.

Artist/Band: John Prine
Lyrics for Song: Clay Pigeons
************************************************************************
I'm goin' down to the Greyhound Station, gonna get a ticket to ride
Gonna find that lady with two or three kids and sit down by her side
Ride 'til the sun comes up and down around me 'bout two or three times
Smokin' cigarettes in the last seat
Tryin' to hide my sorrow from the people I meet

And get along with it all
Go down where the people say "y'all"
Sing a song with a friend
Change the shape that I'm in,
And get back in the game,
And start playin' again

I'd like to stay but I might have to go to start over again
Might go back down to Texas, might go to somewhere that I've never been
And get up in the mornin' and go out at night
And I won't have to go home
Get used to bein' alone
Change the words to this song
Start singin' again

I'm tired of runnin' 'round lookin' for answers to questions that I already know
I could build me a castle of memories just to have somewhere to go
Count the days and the nights that it takes to get back in the saddle again
Feed the pigeons some clay
Turn the night into day
Start talkin' again, when I know what to say

I'm goin' down to the Greyhound Station, gonna get a ticket to ride
Gonna find that lady with two or three kids and sit down by her side
Ride 'til the sun comes up and down around me 'bout two or three times
Smokin' cigarettes in the last seat
Tryin' to hide my sorrow from the people I meet
And get along with it all

Go down where the people say "y'all"
Feed the pigeons some clay
Turn the night into day
Start talkin' again
When I know what to say**************************

1.She's Lost Control- Joy Division
2.Exsanguination- AFI (read they lyrics, even though the song is upbeat, they're about depression)
3.Comfortably Numb- Pink Floyd. It's not necessarily about depression, but it's still a wonderful, relevant song.
4.Frances Farmer will Have Her Revenge on Seattle- Nirvana. Not about going through depression, but Frances Farmer was an actress who was extremely depressed. They tried to cure her by giving her a frontal lobotomy (against her will, I believe) and she died.

There's this song that I would listen to when I got rejected by this guy and the song is by Shakira called "Fool". Some of the lyrics go like this:

Tell me lies/ Slap me on the face/ Just improvise/ Do something really clever/That'll make me hate your name forever/ You might swear/ You'd never touch a lady/ Well let me say/ You're not too far from maybe/ Every day you find new ways to hurt me

I guess it was just my situation but I listened to it over and over until it was just burned into my mind and I would love for him to hear the lyrics but I don't think he would understand. Thanks for reading!

Well you could check out, " I will always love you" by WHitney Houston/ "All By Myself" by Celine Dion & "Without You" by Mariah Carey.
They're all annoying cover remakes by some of the top divas of all time. Not to mention it's the Superbowl of Over The Top Singing EVER. Guaranteed to snap you out of your depression in no time ;)
