People are stupid. And that's putting it nicely. I volunteer at my local SPCA, and I'm soo tired of seeing hundreds of pets killed every week, at that shelter alone! I've saved somewhere near 100 cats from euthanasia, but that didn't even put a dent in the problem. This is how I see it. These are innocent animals being thrown in jail and put on death row. Then they're given the needle. If someone wants to give me their lame excuses of why they haven't done it, I give it to them straight, no nice talk. They're all a bunch of animal killers. From your question, I'm assuming all your pets are taken care of. Thanks for saving lives!

Well for them raising a litter is very cheap because they do not put the money that they should into it!!!!! Usually there are no health checks done on the parents, no vaccines,no worming,no vet visit, crappy food, they do not microchip the puppies, the list goes on and on!!!!!!!! The way they do it, they DO make money!!!!!!!! And if the female has litter after litter, they make a real profit!!!!!!!!!!! It is really sad that they do not understand what it takes to raise a healthy well reared litter!!!!! They are just turning out puppies to make the money!!! They all say it is not about the money, but the rest of us know it is!!!!! Raising a litter is a pain, even if you do it poorly!!! I can't imagine they want to do it just for the fun of it!!!!!!!!
It is really sad and gives good breeders a bad rap. I have one litter every year or every other year. All of the above mentioned are done, the parents are finished or major pointed. I sell puppies for $2,000 and even if there were 12 puppies in the litter, which there isn't, I would never make a profit!!!!!!!
The only reason to breed is the desire to improve the breed. Not to make money, or teach the kids about birth, or any other reason. Too bad more people do not figure this out!!!!!!! Those are the puppies that are ending up in shelters!!! Puppy buyers are not screened to make sure they are ready for a puppy and they are getting the right breed!!!!! And the "breeder" never wants to hear from a former buyer about problems!!!! They are also unwilling to take puppies they have sold back if necessary!!!! If you bring puppies into the world, you are responsiable for all of them for the rest of their lives!!!!!!!!! They should always go back to the breeder and not to a shelter!!!!!
Look at all the idiots here!!!!!!!!! Males do not need to be done because they don't have kittens!!!! Well that makes sense!!! Females can of course get pregnant by themselves!!!!!!
And because it costs too much!!!! Well so does a c-section!!!! If you cannot afford a pet....do not get one!!!!!!!!!
And it is taking away their sexual identity!!! They are not humans. If they are fixed, they are just as happy and even happier many times because they are not totally consumed with breeding and raising young and fighting!!!!
These are all reasons that there will always be a pet over population probelm!!!!!! People just won't spay and neuter!!!!!

They probably want to, but it ends up on the back burner because of a hundered other things they have to do. Also some can't afford the surgery. Also, some people feel it will change the animal if it has been fixed. I have a Doberman that was casterated, and it seems shy, but if it had its testicals still, I would imagine it would be more aggresive. Some people might see it as being cruel to the animal, while on the subject, I can say I wish they had a system for fixing humans, we worry about animals breeding and running wild, but let the human population go unchecked. How does it look to see a 24 year old unmarried woman with 6 kids, and 4 have different fathers, she doesn't work and she ends up on welfare draining resources.

All of our dogs are spayed or neutered save the one we just rescued on Saturday. We will be spaying her as soon as I can find a cheap place to do it.
For those people that say the cost is the main reason, look into it some more because some states have funding set aside to help pay for the costs. There are too many unwanted pets getting killed in shelters, we don't need any more accidental breeding.

Some people are either too lazy or don't understand the consequences. But I'm sure they regret it eventually, since cats or dogs that are spayed or neutered are usually less likely to run away or end up missing.
It's not like I'm gonna get my guinea pig fixed. But I think people should bring their cats and dogs in for the operation if they can't commit fully to breeding.
What I hate is when people have a house full of animals they can't take care of, and since none of them are fixed they "make more" so to speak and the situation gets worse and worse.

Most of the people don't care or don't want to spent money, there are places they spay and neuter free. Not all the people love the animals like you and me and we care about the pet population and the stray animals. Is sad to see a lot of animals are killed daily not only at shelters, they die on the streets, by starvation, by other animals. Thank you for taking your time and be concerned about this issue.

I know of several reasons myself.
1) Initial cost. it doesn't click in their heads that there's a low cost spay and neuter in their town. Sometimes they don't know it exists.
2) $$$$ - Make babies and sell them! Those pure bred dogs can bring in tons of cash! (Any sane breeder knows this is utter bull turds)
3) Laziness or procrastination. They hum and haw over the idea and never get around to it. Then whoops! Their cat surprises them with 4 kittens on their pillow one night.
4) They think they can get away with it. You know - the 'law doesn't apply to me!' mentality.
5) Numerous other family factors that get in the way of well ment plans. I suffer from this. I have a male cat that, by law, needs to be neutered. He will get neutered. I just need real life to butt out so I can get it done. He lives with two spayed females and he's not allowed out. I'm responsible in that I keep him away from receptive females... unlike the guy I got him from. This cat was the result of an unwanted litter and the cat later knocked his mom and his mom's room mate up. **head desks** it took three unwanted litters and a difficult labor to bring reality onto him and last I heard he just gave away the intact females and kept the kittens **head desks again**
Which leads me to my last point:
6)Idiocy. Some people just can't make it click that male plus female = many babies and lots of money. You could also call this category 'Ain't gonna happen to me!'.

Because vets charge a arm and a leg. The vet down the street charges $325.00 for a male cat. Not everyone takes advantage of local spay and newter clinics and programs. Some people don't even know that they can get it done cheaper. Education is the key, spread the word.

they think that they can charge $250 per pur bred, and get lots of money, animals theses days aren't for pets there for money
but there are people who love there pets and yeay for them. Its stupid charging up too 800-1000 per puppy. if they really cared that the animal had a good home they would at least ask 25 or even free- they do for kittens cuz no one will but them unless there extinct

i have my animals fixed. but i only have my female dogs fixed after they have one litter because mother dogs are better dogs. And i always make sure the pups go to good homes like family members and close friends. and that they have them fixed too. I have even taken pups to get them fixed for them to make sure. I dont like the thoughts of all those animals at the pound who are killed just because some one didnt act resposible about owning a pet. in my area over 100,000 dogs and cats are killed a year because over over populaton in the shelters. petty collectors make me sick too. I would love to beable to buy a big ranch and adopt all the animals from all the area shelters and save them from being killed. I would of course stop off at the vet to have them all fixed on the way home thou.lol but thats my dream to beable to save the lives of all those hundreds of dogs cats pups and kittens that have no homes to go to I have plenty of love to spread around. but alas its a dream right & will never happen.
