Venus is the evening star, and yes I mean the planet. Venus is also known as the Evening Star. It was noticed to be one of the brightest stars by Greek Astronomers. It was considered a star long before people knew about the planets.

I heard on the weather channel here in Canada, that the brightest star in the Northern Hemisphere is a star called Bettlejuice. I'm not sure if that is the exact way it is spelt, but that is what I know...
