Jane Vasko was once an undercover police officer attempting to infiltrate the Fonti Mob. After gaining the trust of mob boss Joey Fonti, she was given the assignment of passing a message onto rival gang member Adam, not realizing that she was planted with an explosive device. As she met her target, the explosion caused significant injuries, but Adam was uninjured. Through mysterious means, he managed to revive Jane, giving her superhuman regenerative powers in the process. Leaving her life as a police officer behind, she became the vigilante Painkiller Jane.

Powers and abilities
Jane Vasko is virtually indestructible, making her very hard to kill. In fact, she has survived being blown up more than once, being shot more times than she can count, and even being electrocuted on electric train tracks. Yet, though she heals at a remarkable rate, she doesn't just take two deep breaths and watch her wounds close before her eyes, such as Wolverine or The Crow. Rather, she has to give herself at least a day, or two, to probably heal anything that's been thrown at her. Though, whether she can regrow severed limbs, however, remains unknown. On the offensive side, she has no real powers except being a tough woman to kill. Other than that, she is a skilled fighter, a master of some sort of undefined martial art(s). As well as a master marksman [markswoman?] with her weapons of choice, a pair of hand-guns.

Her true name is Janet Advil. She takes the form of brown tablets and has the magical powers to alleviate all kinds of known pains if taken in pairs with half a glass of cold water on an empty stomach.

As far as I know ... she is a nigh-invulnerable vigilante killer who has her face wrapped in bandages (I guess she thinks she is a mummy or disfigured - but not the case). She is hyper-violent and very single-minded. The only comic I ever read with her in it was a Marvel Tie-in, when she fell in love with The Punisher. Ahh, sweet love.
