Most of the time it is nothing to worry about, they are called 'floaters'. If they have happened gradually and you have only a few, no big deal. If they have grown in numbers rapidly or you notice them in one eye but not the other, then get them checked out as it could be one of several conditions.
Note: you will gain more as you grow older.

This could also be one of the first signs of glaucoma. The spots you refer to may be floaters. Other symptoms could be seeing halos around lights, mild headaches or vague visual disturbances. Glaucoma causes peripheral blindness and if not controlled, complete blindness. It is a simple test done by the eye doctor to check for intraocular pressure. If it occurs fairly frequently, I would have this test done to rule out glaucoma. It can be managed with eye drops.

It could be a sign of hypertension. I had this when my blood pressure got to a very unhealthy level. I would make an appointment with your doctor or at least give them a call and explain your symptoms.

Its small particles floating in the wet surface of your eyeball. The liquid keeps these particles from irritating your eyes, and flushes them out. Every time you blink you'll see them drag upwards then back down again. Very common.
