The talks are the first between the two countries since Washington accused North Korea of having a nuclear weapons program six months ago.

The U.S. hopes the talks will persuade Pyongyang to abandon its efforts to build nuclear weapons, but there are concerns the North Korean's negotiator may not have the authority to approve a deal.

China is hosting the talks and participating in them -- the first time the three countries have held talks since they hammered out an armistice ending the Korean War almost 50 years ago to the day.

Korea is not stupid and would never attempt such a dangerous stunt to a superpower country like America. And besides, if they did, we have sophisticated weaponry to stop any nuke headed our way.

Ok, I live in South Korea and am very alarmed at the now 5 missles that the North has fired. It seems that the long range missle they have didnt even make it a minute in the air. The other 4 are short range missles that couldn't hit the US. I am just alarmed and would tell you that living in the US is safe. The US has anti missles that they could be able to destroy before it came close. If you watch CNN or any of the news programs they said the US gov. said that the North won't have Nukes capable of hitting the US for maybe 10 years or so.
I wouldn't be worried. I am not worried about them and I am closer than you.

Well I have to say that N. Korean missile technology isn't that great. Sure the missile will likely get the range they say but the N. Korean targeting computers are pretty bad. This is why Canada was so concerned when they developed a missile capable of reaching New York. They were afraid that due to the poor targeting it could end up landing in Canada. At least thats what some of my South Korean friends tell me. I wouldn't worry about N.Korea firing a nuke at us. Even if they were insane enough to do so just to wipe out a single U.S. city you can rest assured that fifteen minutes later they would cease to exist.

Tensions are high in Korea. The troops were moved up closer to the DMZ, but this was quite some time ago. North Korea can not hit the USA, but they could hit South Korea where there would be over 200,000 or more lives lost. They know what would happen to them if they went to far..don't sweat the small stuff. Is the color code for terrorism about to change. THE FEAR FACTOR..........another diversion. One way to keep the people's minds of of the illegal war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

North Korea launched missiles today. It was a test, and it failed. They only launched one that was a long range missile, and it was in the air for only forty seconds.

North Korea would not use a bomb on us because that would require a bomber aircraft to enter our airspace.

I do not believe that North Korea will launch nuclear missiles at us. The consequences of doing so are too great for the entire human race. North Korea wants to show that it is a player on the world stage.

Hey i am chinese, and I am pretty sure the N.Koreans are using the bombs ONLY for defending purposes. I am not worried at all, because N.Korea is strong but puny. They will never risk attacking the US or anyone in that matter. They saw what happened to Iraq and feared for themselves. That is all there is. Last time I checked, why wasn't this much controversy when the US built the first air-craft carrier or the first auto-pilot fighter, or spy planes. Lol, China does not even possesse an air-craft carrier yet.

at present ICBM’s have a excellent p.c. of about 15,500 miles in line with hour. It takes time to accelerate to that p.c. so the conventional p.c. will be a lot less. it would take a missile about 0.5-hour to hit the U. S. from North Korea. even if, ICBM’s take setup time to fireplace, subsequently our satellite tv for pc early caution equipment would probably bump into pre-launch circumstances and components an also few hours caution of a achievable attack. thankfully, North Korea does not yet have a real ICBM, yet they do have missiles that threaten Japan and different international locations interior the a procedures East. that's an truly risky situation.

Its possible that they will attack, but it sums unlikley do to that they would have a hard time fighting a war agianst The US, England, China, Japan, South Korea, Canada possibly and then pretty much any other friendly nations all going agianst them. All North Korea would have would be some small war countries and terroists.

Your fears sound like you've been listening to the Republican 'scare me' machine for to long. North Korea would never launch a strike on the US, they know they would get what they lauch plus several hundred back in return...a definite no win for them. Thinks talks should include China, they are the ones pulling North Koreas strings......
