yes it is, but tampon use is not recommended for more than 8 hours. TSS is a problem with tampons, and the best way to avoid this is changing your tampons regularly (every 8 hours), washing your hands before putting a new one in, and using the size best for your flow (i.e. don't use supers when you are really light).
I was 17 when I started using them, I have some friends who still don't use them (in their 20s). You can start using them whenever you are ready, although they are not recommended for young girls (12-14ish).
Try moving around (a little exercise) to get rid of cramps. There are over the counter meds like Midol that are good for cramps and other symptoms. If the OTC stuff isn't strong enough, see your doctor. You could have a problem (such as endometriosis) or you could just be one of those people that needs prescription pain killers to deal with cramps. Also, try using a heating pad, or hot water bottles. Those usually work.

i think it is probably safe to sleep with a tampon in. I wouldn't do it though, it is good to use some other protection instead. I think I was about17-18 when I started using them ( I'm 30 now and my first period was at age 10). But I have always prefered sanitary napkins. i only use tampons when I work out and when I go to work.
I got rid of my cramps by using birthcontrol . i take the pill and it really works for me, I have taken them since I was about 14.
Good Luck!

The absolute best thing for cramps is a pill called Back-aid it comes in a blue box and the pill is yellow and kind of egg shaped. It does great at getting rid of those really bad cramps. You can buy it at Walgreen's, CVS, and Wal-Mart. I was never allowed to use tampons so I can't help you there.

Yes, I sleep in mine over night. It is wise to change it just before you go to bed and then change it again when you get up. Unless you sleep more then 12 hours. I started maybe around 14, but I don't remember but I don't like any other and I mean pads. You can take pain relievers for cramps, or keeping your feet warm can do the trick too for me, you may want to try that. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

yes, you can sleep in one. BUT DO NOT WEAR IT FOR TOO LONG! max 8 hours, but obviously if youre on a heavy part of the flow, change it sooner.
i was uhh....13 when i started using them (about a year or 2 after my periods started)
i take advil for cramp...heating pads also work wonders...and if you exercise around the day youre suppose to start, i dont get them at all...also make sure you drink lots of water.

I've slept in them and nothing's ever happened to me. I started using them when I was in the 7th grade. Sorry, can't help you with the cramps. I have terrible ones, too, but something that calms them is laying a hot water pack on your stomach. That works for me.

Ummm, I'm Becky. I started my period when I was 11. I don't use tampons, but I've treid them and I don't like them. My mom uses them though, and she sleeps in them so I asume that's ok. when I'm trying to get rid of period cramps I take Motrin.
