They can't legally prescribe drugs for themselves, but they can often diagnose themselves and get a coworker to write a prescription for them. Many do [and they are all supposed to] go to another doctor to get checked, however.

Normally, a doctor sees other doctors. It is unethical for a doctor to prescribe drugs for themselves. There may be fines and loss of licence if certain drugs are prescribed to themselves.

Yes doctors see doctors as well. They try not to diagnose themselves although they know enough about the human body to do so. And no, I don't think they can prescribe themselves medicine although they may take the free samples they receive in order to avoid a doctor visit.

I think they have to see another doctor. I am almost positive that they can't prescribe themselves medication or drugs.

A doctor who treats himself has a fool for a patient. In other words, no. They would see another physician. My daughter-in-law is a doctor and she won't prescribe for her husband, my son, but don't know if she can prescribe for herself. She could prescribe for him, but will not.

Normally they do not go to another doctor.Yes they can prescribe medicines for themselves.In some cases where the problem is such that one want to consult the specialist then they have to go the other doctor,who is specialist of a particular field.

there is a saying that the phsycian who treats himself has a fool for a doctor and a fol for a patient. It is very hard to be objective aobut yourself. I believe that they cannot prescribe narcotics for themselves

It's totally within the AMA's ethical codes for Dr.'s to prescribe meds for themsleves.

Yes and no they can't prescibe drugs for themselves. They can't be the doctor for there families either.
