its called cataracts. dogs get them. people get them. hamsters live 2 to 3 years. hes approaching old age. talk to him and reach slow and let him know youre comin to pick him up. also be aware he may lose some fur and some weight. it happens.

Like the last person said, it sounds like your hamster has cataracts from old age. But if he seems otherwise healthy - is eating and drinking normally, making normal droppings and still acts the way he usually does - I wouldn't worry. A hamster can live perfectly happily even if he's blind, because they rely more on the sense of smell and hearing to get around. Just give him a little extra TLC and make sure he's comfortable - pamper him a little! You must be doing a great job taking care of him for him to live so long.

TWO YEAR OLD HAMSTER!!! is he still alive?!! that is amazing that he lived that long...i am sorry, but i would be making funeral arrangements about 8 month ago...wow that is the longest living hamster ever i herad of...every time i got hamster longest lived one was 1 yr 1 month...didn't help prolly that kids handled him often...he could be goin blind...or he could have glaucoma or something...with a hamster it's reallly not worth taking to vet to find out....

I actually had a hamster that lived for 4 years!! It sounds like he might be blind....maybe has glaucoma.

By two years old, your hamster is considered old.. usually they live between 18 months and two years.. Those white spots are a sign of old age..

I'm sorry, it sounds like your hamster is going blind. Be sure and not startle it when you go to pick it up and handle it very gently.

I'm not sure. Take him to the vet, my vet only charges like $10 to look at hamsters.

he mit be blind but if you call a vet they can tell you what it is or most vets will do check-ups on hamsters but it cost like $30

No, it is just some organism condition changing but it won't matter a lot, but if you can't stop the anxiety, still go to the doctor.
