I'd think that a song heralding the beauty of our country is better than one celebrating victory in a battle. Our National Anthem is a great tribute to, possibly, our strength or power. But the things that make the country great aren't military; they're about companionship and beauty. America the Beautiful most definitely would be better. (If we replace the word God in the song, as that would cause a separate controversy entirely.)

Plus, America the Beautiful is a much easier song, vocal-wise. :P

i think of that's a shame so few human beings extremely understand the words to the celebrity Spangled Banner all 4 verses, then we would not get such questions. One music is adoration the anthem sums up the function and purpose of our united states. of direction it believes in God so liberals will desire it banned. Oh, say, are you able to be certain, via the dawn's early mild, What so proudly we hail'd on the twilight's final sparkling? Whose super stripes and vivid stars, thro' the perilous combat, O'er the ramparts we watch'd, have been so gallantly streaming? And the rockets' purple glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave info thro' the nighttime that our flag replaced into nonetheless there. O say, does that celebrity-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the unfastened and the homestead of the brave? on the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep, the place the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes, what's that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep, because it fitfully blows, a million/2 conceals, a million/2 discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam, In finished glory contemplated, now shines on the circulate: 'T is the celebrity-spangled banner: O, long could it wave O'er the land of the unfastened and the homestead of the brave! And the place is that band who so vauntingly swore That the havoc of war and the conflict's confusion a house and a rustic ought to circulate away us not greater? Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps' pollutants. No shelter ought to keep the hireling and slave From the phobia of flight or the gloom of the grave: And the celebrity-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O'er the land of the unfastened and the homestead of the brave. O, consequently be it ever whilst freemen shall stand, between their lov'd properties and the war's desolation; Blest with vict'ry and peace, could the heav'n-rescued land compliment the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us a rustic! Then conquer we ought to, whilst our reason. that's barely, And this be our motto: "In God is our have faith" And the celebrity-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the unfastened and the homestead of the brave!

Despite what some people think, it has only been our national anthem for 70 years.

The choice of which song should be our national anthem was given to school children in 1931, who had been singing the star spangled banner every day. They voted for it because they were familiar with it. Then Congress made it official.

I think America the Beautiful is so much better. And it's not about war.

No, the Star Spangled Banner is a great song for our country. Not only was it inspired by what was happening in the war as the author was watching fighting, it is all about the flag. Plus, musically, it starts off on a slow note, but it ends in a high point, a crescendo, a climax, that still sends a shiver down my spine every time I hear it.

I think America The Beautiful would be better. At times it is painful to listen to some people get through a rendition of The Star Spangled Banner !

Yes, it would, "The Star Spangled Banner" has good lyrics, but the melody of the song was actually a beer drinking song, so that's weird to have that melody as our National Anthem.

Oracle, America the Beautiful is phenomenal,
however, America is a Continent,
North America included Canada, USA and Mexico
Then there is Central America and
South America.
So, if you were to replace America with USA or
United States, you'd ruin the song.
Too bad, because I too think it is great!
Happy Fourth of July!

Yup, but it's hard to change hundreds of years of tradition regardless of the nations blanket ignorance of our national anthem

I love America the Beautiful but I also love the Star Spangled Banner so this is a tough question for me to answer. Heck with it, sing em both! Loved your question, thanks

Only and I mean only if the late great Kate Smith could be the only voice to ever sing it. No one before or after can compare to the emotion in her voice when she belts it out.
