that was Melanie and the song was entitled Brand New Key. It can be found on the Boogie Nights Soundtrack as well as her compilation albums. Her most popular song was actually "Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)" which was from her Woodstock audience lighting candles during her set. Personally I like "Brand New Key" the best followed by her "Animal Crackers" song which I encourage you to find and check out. It is her Tortured voice that attracted me to her and the slight humor and innocence in her music. Truely one of a kind.
Also almost forgot "Look What They've Done to My Song Ma" is one u r sure to like.
