Here I sit, answering and asking, taking time away from my Youtubing, e-mail answering, bill paying and poker playing, as if I really needed another thing to occupy my time while I'm on the computer.

So here's the question, WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?? What's in it for us. Shouldn't I just close this page and not come back... yet I don't. Why do you?

I don't really need to waste time answering these questions. Furthermore, I don't really need to drink coke instead of water, I don't really need to wear a fancy watch to know the time, I don't really need to do most things I do every day, but I do them because they fulfill me in a very shallow way... I answer these questions because of a "need" to prove myself to others... to have a feeling that I can contribute help someone in his or her quest for empty knowledge...

I think it's the same thing as useless chat on the internet, except you might learn a few things by doing it. I like answering questions for other people, maybe try to get the best answer.

And I like to ask questions that I'd like an opinion on or am just too lazy to search message boards or google. Simple questions like...how do you light a portable gas grill...you know SOMEONE's gotta know and will explain it to ya....questions like that.

For me, it's getting to use this lifetime of virtually useless knowledge I've built up -- and sometimes the magic of my GoogleFu.

I was laid off from a not-for-profit where I served basically this kind of informational function and this makes me feel like I'm still doing something good in the world.

I wonder the same thing. I am doing it to rack up points. My co-workers ask me "what do you get with your points? Do you win something?" I told them I didn't think so, and they're all like "so why are you wasting your time doing it then???" This is one of those baffling questions that will haunt us for eternity!

I hope in some cases to learn something... I don't know... like that answer to a question. At the same time I answer questions to offer my perspective hoping it may be useful to someone.

i think its kinda theraputic accually. we all have questions. i think this is a great way to answer the questions about ourselves before we get them. or get oppinions from ppl that have "been there" and can point in the right direction. =^..^=
