Your hips have spread because that's what happens in a pregnancy. The ligaments that hold the pelvis together are relaxing in preparation for the birth (otherwise there won't be room for the baby to come out).
Your breasts and shoulders will also become wider because of the hormonal changes (the shoulders have to hold up the engorged breasts).
Your body retains fluid at this time because of what's called increased vascularity...basically meaning you have a beefed up blood system right now.
Depending on the size of the baby and how much fluid you may be retaining, you'll lose anywhere from 25-50 pounds. I lost 42 pounds with my first in the 3 days from when I went into the hospital and when I was discharged cuz I was bloated llike a battleship. With the next, I lost 27 pounds in the first week and other 15 by the end of the first month.

This is funny you ask. Because right after I had my baby girl (like that evening) I was walking the halls of the hospital, and asked a nurse if they had a scale because I wanted to weigh myself, to see how much weight I lost in that day. See, I was 200 pounds even when I came in that morning to deliver. When I weighed that evening....I was 197. I was like WHAT THE HECK! I just birthed a 7 lbs 15 oz baby....and the placenta, AND all the amniotic fluid....so why did I only lose 3 pounds???
Still to this day I can't figure it out. I suspect it has something to do with the fact that all during the labor/delivery they had an IV in me to keep me VERY hydrated. So I was full of water.
But over the next few weeks, my body was working overtime to lose water-weight. I would sweat like crazy when I nursed, and at night when I was asleep.
By my 6 week post partum check-up, I was 10 pounds away from being back to my pre-preg weight.
It is different for all people. But if you are looking for a weight loss "right after" you have your baby....hopefully your weight won't be as bizarre as mine.

everybody is different. Some loose it all in just a couple of weeks some keep it on for a really long time and some never lose there baby weight. I myself just had a baby 1 week ago and have lost about 20 lbs already but I only gained 10 lbs to begin with but I was already a heavy girl... Eat right a exercise also breast feeding can help a women to lose the weight more quickly due to the calories you lose while breastfeeding plus it is really good for the baby... Congrats on the baby and good luck.

It all depends on your own body. With all 4 babies, I gained a lot of weight and only lost a little and still had a lot more to go. I nursed all my babies and didn't really lose the extra weight until I stopped nursing. Everyone told me I would lose weight while I nursed. I saw others who lost all their weight while nursing though. But I still nursed because it's so important for the babies health and for your bonding.

I have had 3 kids and within 2 weeks of delivery I always lost between 25 -40 pounds and ended up slightly lighter than prior to pregnancy.

They say the baby weight is 25 to 30 lbs. I gained 25 with my daughter and lost all of it when I gave birth to her, but each pregnancy is different. Go to baby.com or babycenter.com, I read something that tells you what everything weighs like the placenta and cord etc... Good luck

usually you will lose all the weight you have gained during the pregnancy but don't eat like a cow after because it is very easy to put on the weight after having a baby and harder to take it off

BREAST FEED!!!!!!!!!!
I lost ALL of my baby weight......
and I look better than I did before b/c my *** is bigger and
my **** got bigger while i breast fed and you just look more like a woman.......
if you don't breast feed, it'll prolly take 6 weeks to get MOST of it off (depending on your metabolism) and then after 6 weeks, you can prolly start working out.....depending on what your ob/gyn says.......
so don't worry cause' you'll work a bunch of that "baby fat" off while taking care of your new bundle of joy, so don't worry.....
and don't eat JUNK FOOD!!!!!!
