North Korea is doing things to attempt to impress the US with its might and Kim is doing things out of rancor. He and his father have a long term hate-relationship towards the US and President Clinton made a bit of progress towards appeasement but North Korea believes the agreements were too one-sided and have again turned away from us. Their economy is weak and and prolonged military engagement would devastate the country. China, while trying to get North Korea to the negotiating table offers the best possible solution to getting them to stand-down. After all, North Korean missiles could strike all of the major cities in China and Beijing and Shanghai are but a stone's throw away. However as the sabres rattle, think about something else. A rocket launch into space is quite like a missile launch and we didn't fear the Japanese as they launched countless satellites into space and they possess nuclear power facilities. Von Braun used rockets as a stepping stone into space. Could it be that North Korea is using the missiles in the same way and coupled with rhetoric and blood-thirsty reporters, the facts are distorted and serve propaganda purposes of Kim's regime? The government of North Korea is secretive and not accessible to western scrutiny but we know they are prepared for an invasion by the US. I don't think we should disregard the threat but perhaps let China try to defuse a potentially dangerous situation.

Nothing good can come from this, and Bush is afraid to confront the North Koreans because they share a common border with Communist China. Also, American businessmen are pressuring the White House not to do anything which would upset the Chinese. Communist China has a vast army said to number 200,000,000 soldiers, and no one, including the United States, wants to go to war with them. Also, China may be supporting the North Korean missile program behind the scenes.

I applaude North Korea for Standing up to the Bush Administration, who has no right to tell "anyone" what to do or not to do.
Bush sent envoys to our asian allies since those tests, when he should send Condi Rice over there and be diplomatic with North Korea. Nooo, the Bush Administration is afraid! Heck, Clinton sent Madelyn Allbright durring his Administration.
As far as I'm concerned, they have a right to test their equipment as the U.S. does. Only the Media is trying to make it all scarey!

America could obliterate not only N Korea, but most of Asia with an H-Bomb, so N Korea has a few Nukes? So what?
