DEFINITUALLY!!! OMG I love that song!!!! I think from reading these other answers... I am the only one that knows that you mean the song (right? Garth Brooks?). Anyway, I think that it is important to have best friends, back up friends, ok friends, and friends that know you..... enough to keep you blackmailed for life! lol. My friends in low places are the best. They keep me entertained, well kept, crazy, annoyed, and loved (I think I just described a dog lol). I also think that a best best best friend should know everything about you, before they become your best friend. Like me, I have two best friends. One, our moms were great friends before we were born, so we knew each other before we were born. Anyway, we went to a day care together when we were about 2 yrs old and meet my other best friend. And know we are all best friends and can write a dictionary thick book about each other. I mean, we were ( and are) so close, they called my parents Mr. Dad and Mrs. Mom. I think that is what a true friend in low places' should have defined in the dictionary!
By the way, that song is in the top ten on my iPod. I've got the 9 min live version. I LOVE IT!!!!!

Depends on what you mean by "friends in low places" in my part of Australia it means having and making use contacts outside the normal power structure: secretaries, engineers, cleaners (what Americans would call Janitors), security guards, programmers, drivers, and librarians/researchers.
Having friends in high places is sometimes useful, friends in low places vital.

I immediately though something dirty when reading this question but yes I do. It keep you grounded. I have had some successes in my life and moved away from the old neighhood. Yet, I sitll enjoy going back and hangin with the fellas and just shooting the sh*t.
