Since you're talking about Gigabytes, I assume you are referring to your hard drive. Having only 85GB free space would not slow the computer down. Your computer's speed is more affected by the amount of RAM available and the speed of the CPU.

Go to the Control Panel. Click on "Performance and Maintenance". Click on "System". The General tab will show you how much RAM you have and what the speed of your processor is in MHz.

Next, press CTRL-ALT-DELETE to bring up the Task Manager. Click on the "Performance" tab to see the percentage of CPU usage. If your CPU is used consistently above 50% then it is time to get a faster CPU and/or more RAM.

Yah, low memory means system will run slower and you cannot open too many applications at same time.

By the way, the memory you mentioned 184GB (giga bytes) huge memory, chech your system, is it MB (mega bytes)?

Or are you talking about hard disk space?

yes because some junk could be a program corrupted and interferring with your system files or you might of got a virus and need to format it again, your memory is good but if it runs slow i whould format and boot my cpu if u want to back up but their is a risk of virus in ur backup files

You better be deleting stuff you don't want. LOL. Or else your computer will crash and you will have to start from scratch. That is not a good thing to do either trust me on that.

no, run a defrag, and scan for spyware that should help. also try stopping any programs you don't need from running. removing ones that you don't use wont hurt anything too
