I have seen them made out of baby beds, but I supose that a twin would work. You should check out hgtv.com or diy.com.

Haven't seen one but what a clever idea!

If it's a wood frame, simply screwing two 5 or 6-inch block cubes on each side, one near the bottom where the rail would go and one about 2/3 of the way up to stabilize the frames should work fine. This would give you a free-standing frame that should be pretty stable and be able to display a few quilts on front and back.

If they're metal, that would be more of a problem.

If you are planning to start on your woodworking project, this isn't something you should use, it's something that you would be insane not to. Go here https://tr.im/GuideToWoodworking
Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.

Go to a mattress store and ask for a metal Hollywood frame to fit your length matress that you can screw a head and footboard to. It may be $20-30. Or once you know what to look for maybe Goodwill will have one or a thrift store. Frames adjust from a queen to a king but you need the kind with extensions to the end of the bed for the footboard to screw onto.

Along with stone, mud and animal parts, wood was one of the first materials worked by early humans. Microwear analysis of the Mousterian stone tools used by the Neanderthals show that many were used to work wood. The development of civilization was closely tied to the development of increasingly greater degrees of skill in working these materials.
