Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but until a man carries something in his womb it's not his call.

There are so many reasons a woman may consider abortion, some I think are reasonable and others aren't.

If a woman conceives due to rape, then I think it should be her choice alone.

If the woman conceives and her and the father a drug addicts with no intention to change, then I think it is fairer on the unborn child to be aborted than go through the pain of addiction at birth and a life of neglect and abuse.

If the child has a terminal genetic disorder such as Turner's Syndrome, then I think it is an option that both parents should discuss.

And if the mother's life is at risk, then I also believe that she should have that option.

Still, I would like to see more mothers who simply don't want the child have them and surrender them for adoption. Plenty of couples in the world cannot have their own children and would love to have a baby that no-one else wants.

But ultimately I believe that until a man can go through the same thing as a woman in terms of pregnancy and birth, they should take a back seat in the decision making here.

Yes.

Their is too much controversy.

Because immature people who have never had to make a difficult decision in their lives are allowed to spout off on things they know jack squat about.

It is nice that you feel comfortable imposing your moral beliefs on other people’s lives, however, the reality is that not every person is as morally superior as you are.

Yes, abortion is ugly, and ideally unnecessary. However, we do not live in ideal land, where everything goes the ideal way. We live in reality, where NOTHING is ideal, and abortion is an ugly, necessary evil, part of life.

If you make abortions illegal, it will not stop the practice of abortion. It will only push it underground as it was during the early part of this century. Advocating women dieing from having barbers shoving razors into them is not a morally defensible position either.

Someday when you have lived enough to understand what a real problem is, and a real dilemma, you will not be so quick to judge the unpleasant decisions of others. Judging others who are forced to make the decision between two unpleasant alternatives is a pretty morally empty thing to do too. Congratulations.

You want to be “pro-life?”

Then you better be “Pro-life” when that unwanted, crack-addicted baby grows up and slits your mothers throat in order to get her last $20 from her purse in order to buy his next 8 ball.

You CANNOT be “pro-life” and in favor of the death penalty at the same time.

it's a woman body!! I think men should stay out of the debate...it's easy for someone who just need to ejaculate to make a statement like that.....until you have been a women going through not just physical but social and political struggles against a patriarchial society. Men should not even begin to speak about issue such as abortion. If the issue is important to you perhaps you should take one step back before the penetration of virgina and debate what are the consequences of getting a women pregnant by men. Castration as a solution perhaps?!! Please lets not start with money as a compensation.....

Totally against. Even children who are born out of rape can still be given up for adoption so that someone who wants a child will be able to be happy and have one. I never ever wanted children and then I got pregnant and had my son. To be honest I feel that most women even if they don't think they will want a child will change their mind the first time they hold their own. Even on bad days I am still thankful for my son. He's one of the best things that has ever happened to me and I love him.

the problem is the alternative. force mothers to give birth and raise the baby? or who else will raise it?
certainly not the republican rich. they hate the poor white trash babies and would rather see them suffer a few years before they die of neglect or no health care or end up in prisons.
so make up your minds. are you willing to raise babies for the state or not? you have the right to keep your own but cannot force all mothers to keep theirs.
must they hatch every egg they have( they each have thousands)

I think that abortion should only be used if having the child will kill
the mother or the child is severely deformed and would not last
long after birth anyway. Otherwise it shouldn't be done.

I completely agree. I just had a baby and the whole pregnancy thing is a life altering experience. No doubt there is a living person there.

I know, it should not even be a debate topic. It's like open and shut for me to. A baby is a baby...

It is a free country, but, if a woman close to you were raped I think you might have a different opinion.
