Not really... I think people though forget the meaning of it... to me it seems like everybody gets caught up to much in the fireworks.

I used to think it was overrated. In some sense I guess I still do.

Being that I am not of European decent and tend to view history from the non-euro side, I don't particularly appreciate it for what it was meant to be. This country was built on the blood and exploitation of many, particularly those with darker skin pigmentation.

With that said, I love America. I wouldn't particularly want to live anywhere else so I celebrate July 4th in appreciation of ME being an American and not independence from Britain which eventually led to slavery and massacres of natives etc. :)

People who are little-minded and don't realize the content. And by content I mean the historical, patriotic and PRIDE content to be an American citizen.

I am damn proud to be an American, and for those who are American and don't appreciate this country and the importance of July 4, 1776...

Suck.
My.
Back.

That is all.

i defiantly do,here's why,..i honor my ancestors and in thinking of them,i realize that there is no Independence for the American Indian,i hate to sound bitter but,it is like a wound that can not heal in my heart that my people were and still are treated like children or animals,we do not own this country and were willing to share it with all that came,in turn we were rounded up like cattle, make to walk to an unbelievable amount of miles and stripped of all we had.there is no Independence for me,not until i am recognized as a human being, not until there is peace, not just for my people but for all people.there has been enough blood shed...no more.

No..... But i'm incredibly mad right now though. We have a celebration every year in my town and at around 9 they shoot off a thousand dollars worth of fireworks and i was there all day and it started raining right when they were about to set off the fireworks and they have decided they are going to set them all off tomorrow instead and i can't go! Grrrrr.

Umm, no i dont think so. It is the birthday of America, and there is fireworks and everything. Sounds like fun to me...I think the term "overrated" is overated.

No American should. Nor should anyone in the world that loves freedom and the freedoms that we have provided for many people in the world.

The birth of our Independence overrated?!?!

That's the most asinine thing I have heard in a long time.

No way!
Perhaps if you (and everyone else) called it by it's proper holiday title, it would bring into remembrance the true meaning....

INDEPENDENCE DAY!

We don't send happy 25th of December cards........
