No, I actually think that a man that owns cats is more of a man because he is obviously secure with his masculinity (because of the stereotype that cats are feminine).

It really depends on who you ask. In certain social circles, cats are seen as a feminine icon, whereas dogs are seen as more the masculine. Why this is, I cannot say. Most would argue that dogs are seen more masculine because they are descended from wolves, however, they fail to remember or realize that domestic housecats have roots among some of the fiercest feline species on the planet, like lions or leopards. On other other side of the coin, though, there are certain species of dogs, like a pomeranian or a chihuahua, that are seen as an effeminate sign, while having a feline species that is over the top, like a tiger, as an exotic pet, can be seen as a sign of ubermasculinity. In short, really, it's all a matter of individual perception.
