The doctor or the nurse will take you to an examination room. Even here you can ask your friend or partner to be with you. You will be instructed as to what item(s) of clothing you will need to remove so the doctor can examine you. You will have to partially undress or remove your underwear for this part of the examination, depending if it is necessary to examine your breasts first or your genitals only. So dress comfortable, in clothing that is easy to change.
Don't be afraid. It is important that your doctor is able to see the parts of your body, so they can be examined carefully to make sure everything is okay.

Again, the nurse or doctor will be glad to answer any questions you might have at this point.
the doctor will first examine the external parts of your vagina and make sure everything has developed normal and is okay. The doctor will then see if it is possible to insert a speculum so it is possible to see inside the vagina and examine and to make sure that it is normal. The doctor will also place one or two fingers inside your vagina and one hand on your abdomen. This allows the doctor to feel your ovaries and your uterus and to examine them and to make sure they are normal size and have developed appropriately also. Do not hesitate to ask any questions or to address any concerns during the examination.
The table for female examinations has stirrups at the end of it. These are for you to place your feet in while the doctor examines your vagina and female organs. These make it much less uncomfortable for you during the exam, and helps the doctor to better examine you.

A Pap smear is something that sometimes is done on an examination. A speculum is inserted so that the doctor can see the cervix, which is the opening into the womb. This is a place where at a later age lesions may develop and a Pap smear helps to detect those long before there’s any problems and while it is very easy to treat and get rid of them.
The doctor inserts a small wooden spatula or other device and simply scrapes some of the superficial cells off the skin of the cervix. This is usually not painful. If you experience any pain it is important that you tell your doctor.

The doctor then places the cells on a microscopic slide and then uses a special liquid to preserve the cells so they can be examined and studied at a later time.
A pathologist is a specialized doctor who examines the slides after they have been prepared for the microscope.

Cells from this region of the body have a special characteristic in that many years before they may turn into a cancer they show changes that tell the pathologist that they will become abnormal at a later time. The importance is that if the pathologist detects some changes that may cause problems in the future they can let your doctor know, and it can be simply treated so as to prevent any problems with cancer in the future.

After this the doctor will tell you what she found on the examination. He will answer your questions, and may give you some medical advice or recommend a contraception method and give you a prescription. (This can be taken to your pharmacy and you can purchase the medicine.)
He will propose a time for you to come back to see her, and make sure you ask any questions you have before you leave.

Your doctor will talk to you about STD's and contraceptives.

My experience was pretty much the same. Go in, nurse hands over the gown for you to change into, asks questions, leaves, you change, doc and nurse come in,lay down, stirrupsthese y looking things at the end of the table that you put your feet into), breast exam (they will go over with you how to examine them yourself), then the speculum (a duck billed looking thing the doc puts in you to open you for the swab. Usually doesn't hurt but you will feel some pressure. Doc also uses a bright light to see down there.), the swab, you're done. A good doctor will talk to you the whole time and tell you what they are about to do. you should also have a sheet to put over your lap, they call it a drape I think. You may also want your mom to come in with you for the first visit. With the drape in place she won't be able to see anything, and she can reassure you if you get nervous.

All these answers sound pretty right to me. My two cents worth is this.

RELAX

The more you can relax the easier it is. It can be hard to do but I try to think about something else. The spiculum (the duck bill thing) can be uncomfortable if you are really tense. It also helps if it is warmed up. Ask your doctor to warm it up for you.

first you will go into the room and put on a paper gown then you will lay on the table and put your feet in stirrups...then the doctor will check your breasts and then do the vaginal swabs. he will then ask you if you have any questions...it doesn't hurt but it is kindof uncomfortable.. Just focus on the ceiling and it will be over really quick.
