If they said, "I'm sorry, or my fault!" Like they do in other sports they wouldn't get rushed at the mound! I just notice that other sports are more courteous. Also, in baseball after the game, they don't shake the opposing teams hands...saying good game! Unlike Football, or Basketball. Your thoughts about both questions? 2 in 1 question I'm asking.

Well, sometimes when pitchers don't apologize, it's because they meant to hit the batter. These are the times when the pitcher gets rushed. Most of the time, the batter just takes his free base.

As for hand shaking, its mainly the majors that don't do this. All the time I played AA we did after every single game, win or lose. I don't know what happens in the major leagues that caused them to stop, but they do. Weird.

Becausee hitting a player is part of the game, just as is the batter trying to steal the inside part of home plate. The batter is saying "I don't respect you the pitcher", so the pitcher brushes him back, sometimes hitting him, saying in effect "Stay out of my territory." Sometimes a pitcher loses control and plunks a batter, but batters know what's happened and rarely get upset in those circumstances. But hitting batters back and forth on each side gets tempers flaring and umpires mow have the power to heave a pitcher, warn both sides about retaliation and heave managers and pitchers to get control of matters. What you rarely see is the behind the scene apology by a pitcher for hitting someone by accident and worse, hurting them. It happens but players keep those things to themselves. The handshaking and stuff, mostly in the locker rooms, just how it's done. Also not these guys carry on running conversations with the other sides players on the field. It is a pretty collegial sport.... unlike hockey.

Who wants to see that. Your players have to be tough and if a batter is crowding the plate he deserves to get hit.
As for the second question I think most baseball players still have respect for each other unlike other sports. They show their respect by chatting during the game and I have also seen them talking and shaking hands in pre-game warmups.

Its part of the game, getting hit. I don't apologise to the goalies I hit shooting in hockey. I play softball, and I don't expect an apology if I get hit. And we always shake hands, I don't know why the major leagers don't

They do in Japan. They tip their cap as a way to aplogize. Not that it works as they still have guys charge the mound at times.

It's an unwritten rule, and every ballplayer knows that it is part of the game. As for handshakes, it is tradition that they don't, you have to remember, there is still friendships off the field.

this is a sport...it is not a woman's book group...if it is serious enough it is taken care of privately...not for everyone to see...I guarantee that plenty of apologies have been traded...but I KNOW that Mr. Lambert(NFL) was NOT apologizing for everything he did to people...
